My first blog addressed some initial thoughts on defining good research. Since that time I have written an essay devoted to defining good research which is posted on my Home page. Throughout the course I have continue to reflect on my definition. I maintain my stance that good research should be connected to promoting human well-being; however, I have made adjustments to this by determining there is a much larger picture to what "for the greater good" means. Initially my thoughts were connecting the promotion of human well-being to a specific context. For example, a research conducts a study on the effects of an intervention program and this promotes human well-being within the context of school and learning. After reading additional articles, I realize that the promotion of human well-being can include furthering knowledge about the human condition. Understanding how we "know" is just as important to promoting human well-being as understanding what what we know.
